How to Set Up a Static Residential IP: A Beginner’s Guide

A beginner-friendly guide to setting up a MiyaIP static residential IP on Clash, Shadowrocket, NekoBox, v2rayN, or v2rayNG.

You have bought a static residential IP, but you are not sure what to do next? This guide walks you through the basic setup on a computer or phone.

The labels can vary a little between app versions. The information you need is always the same: server, port, username, password, and connection type.

Setup steps

  1. Prepare your details and choose an app

    Have your MiyaIP static residential IP details ready: server, port, username, password, and connection type.

    Use Clash on Windows or Mac, Shadowrocket on iPhone or iPad, NekoBox or v2rayNG on Android, or v2rayN on Windows, Mac, or Linux.

    If the details appear as server:port:username:password, fill them in from left to right. Follow the HTTP or SOCKS5 type shown in the MiyaIP dashboard.

  2. Set up Clash

    If MiyaIP provides a configuration file, download it from Usage Guide → Clash. The file normally ends in .yaml.

    Open Clash, go to Profiles or Subscriptions, and import the local file. Do not edit the YAML file before importing it.

    Select the MiyaIP profile, choose the MiyaIP node under Proxies, avoid DIRECT, and turn on System Proxy.

  3. Set up Shadowrocket

    Tap +, choose HTTP or SOCKS5 according to the MiyaIP dashboard, and enter Address, Port, User, and Password.

    Use MiyaIP as the remark, tap Done, select the node, and turn on the connection switch.

    Approve the iOS VPN configuration prompt the first time if you want to use the connection.

  4. Set up NekoBox

    Tap +, choose Manual settings, then choose SOCKS or HTTP according to the dashboard.

    Enter Name, Server, Port, Username, and Password. Leave other settings at their defaults for the first test.

    Save with the check mark, select MiyaIP, and approve the Android VPN prompt if it appears.

  5. Set up v2rayN or v2rayNG

    In v2rayN, add a SOCKS server, enter the MiyaIP details, select the node, and enable System Proxy → Auto configure system proxy.

    In v2rayNG, choose Manual input [SOCKS], enter the MiyaIP details, save, select the node, and tap the connection button.

    Keep the client running while its system or VPN connection is enabled.

  6. Check the IP and fix common issues

    Open ipinfo.io or another IP-checking service. Confirm the client says connected, the IP has changed from your normal connection, and the broad region is consistent with your purchase.

    If it fails, recheck expiry, server, port, username, password, and connection type. For a 407 error, use the proxy password from the IP details page, not your MiyaIP account password.

    For a YAML error, download a fresh configuration file. Hide usernames, passwords, and full IPs before sharing screenshots with support.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fill in every field?

For a manual setup, normally yes: server, port, username, password, and the correct connection type. A downloaded Clash configuration can contain these values already.

Should I choose HTTP or SOCKS5?

Choose the type shown in your MiyaIP IP details. Do not switch types just because another app uses a different label.

Can I use the same static IP on more than one device?

That depends on your plan and intended workflow. Check the product terms or ask MiyaIP support before sharing one endpoint across devices.

Why is the IP region not exactly the city I expected?

IP location is approximate. Check the country or broader region first, and contact support if it does not match the location you selected.
